Bill was a great mentor to me as well as my good friend. I will long remember our Friday night football games as well as the playoff games we did. My thoughts and prayers go to his family. James Clasby

When I was a kid I remember watching him pitch and thought he looked just like Warren Spahn.

Bill and I graduated from the "Rock School" in Damascus together, and all of us greatly respected his athletic gifts: star football quarterback, baseball pitcher, and basketball captain for us as Coach Gene Crrookshank led us in the early '50's. Bill is, I know, greatly. missed already. Blessings to his family, Marilou Hall Preston

Bill was such a huge help to me when I started officiating in 1991. He made sure I got experience with 8th grade and JV games, and went to bat for me with the commissioner when he thought I was ready to work varsity games. He was also the unofficial subvarsity commissioner in the Coalfields, making sure all lower level games were covered, submitting invoices to the schools, and personally delivering pay to the doorstep of younger officials. He also gave up games so that young officials could work and get experience. I'm forever grateful.

Words cannot express the love we had for Bill and Barbara. Bill became a grandfather figure to my son and we will never forget him. May God comfort Scott and Barbara at this time.
