Maggie Carolyn Thomas

Maggie Carolyn Thomas, 84, of Glade Spring, VA passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 in the Valley Health Care Center, Chilhowie, VA. She was a life long resident of Washington County, VA and a daughter of the late Martin and Carrie Widener. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Venton E. Thomas; three sons, Johnny Thomas, Billy Thomas, and Kenny Thomas; and seven brothers and three sisters. Maggie enjoyed spending time with her family and her many friends at Valley Health Care Center. She also enjoyed the time she spent planting and taking care of her flowers in her yard. She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Thomas and her companion, Carl Riley; six grandchildren, Ricky Thomas and his wife, Marie, Tammy Barlow and her husband, Mike, Jennifer Barlow and her husband, Steve, Jonathan Thomas and his wife, Tracy, Heather Parris and her fiance, John Rouse, and Josh Thomas and his wife, Brooke; nine great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; two brothers, Marvin Widener and Cecil Widener and his wife, Libby; two special friends, Dorothy Martin and Paige Lane; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to all the staff and residents of Valley Health Care Center for a job well done. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:45 PM Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Garrett Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 PM Saturday in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home with Pastor James Walls officiating. The committal service and interment will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Rush Creek Cemetery in Glade Spring, VA. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
