Charles Ronald "Ron" Morefield

Charles Ronald "Ron" Morefield, 71, of Glade Spring, VA passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019 in the Christian Care Center of Bristol, TN. He was born in Damascus, VA on November 3, 1947, a son of the late David and Irene Morefield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Blevins; and a brother, Jerry Morefield. He was a life long resident of Washington County, VA and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era where he received the Bronze Star. He was a retired machinist from Titan Wheel Manufacturing Company in Saltville, VA. Ron was a member of the V.F.W., N.R.A., and was an elder of McCalls Gap Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Doris S. Morefield; one son, Bobby L. Blevins and his wife, Robin, of Glade Spring, VA; five grandchildren, Kristi Baumgardner and her husband, Robbie, Billy Thomas and his wife, Beverly, Stacie Thomas, Brandi Hunter and her husband, Jason, and Terri Snead; one brother, Wayne Morefield and his wife, Vicki, of Damascus, VA; one nephew, David Morefield of Damascus, VA; 11 great grandchildren and several other nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to Christian Care Center of Bristol for all the love and care shown to Ron during his illness. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Garrett Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm Thursday in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Riley officiating. The committal service and interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, VA with military rites conducted by the U.S. Army National Guard Honor Guard and the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Jason Hunter, Greg Neal, Robbie Baumgardner, Billy Thomas, Jeff Blevins, Ricky Blevins, Joe Robinson, and David Morefield. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to McCalls Gap Presbyterian Church, 9420 Crescent Rd., Glade Spring, VA 24340.
