Willard Paul Widener

May 12, 1944 - March 2, 2022

Willard Paul Widener, 77, entered into the loving arms of his Savior during the morning hours of Wednesday (March 2, 2022). Willard was born on May 12, 1944 in Glade Spring, VA to the late Paul Edwin & Hattie Mae (Debusk) Widener. Willard was a dedicated member of Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed the simplicity of life, always putting others before himself, being outdoors, farming, and spending time with his family and friends. Church and family was Willards life. Willard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend; he will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, Willard was preceded in death by two brothers; and son-in law, Douglas Otey. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of over 50 years, Virginia Lee Widener; two sons, Brandon Lee Widener & wife Heather and Paul Hamilton Widener; two daughters, Angela Dawn Rouse and Andrea Renea Widener; five grandchildren; sister, Doris Jean Phillips & husband Robert; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. The family will greet guests and share memories on Monday (March 7, 2022) from noon to 1 p.m. at Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church (35211 Greertown Road Glade Spring, VA 24340). A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Vann Seal officiating. Willard will be laid to rest following the Celebration of Life Service at Widener Valley Community Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by Highlands Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
