Wanda Mahala, 58, of Damascus, VA passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at her residence. She was a lifelong resident of Washington County, VA born on May 14, 1963, a daughter of the late Ben and Addie Lee Brown Rosenbaum. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Benny Rosenbaum and Jimmy Rosenbaum; and two sisters, Doralee Rosenbaum and Joyce Casey. Wanda is survived by her husband of 39 years, Dewey Mahala; two daughters, Angel Johnson and her husband, James, and Addie "Beth" Mahala; one son, Jonathan Mahala; three grandchildren, Benny Roark, Michael Johnson, and Amber Johnson; one sister, Louise Webster and her husband, Jim; a special nephew, Michael Casey; and several other nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Garrett Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home with Mr. Garnet Rogers, minister, officiating. The committal service and interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Abingdon, VA. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. My God, I hate to hear the passing of Wanda. She was a good, strong woman and always managed to put a smile on my face anytime that I happened to be around. Prayers going out to Dewey and Beth, I am so sorry for your loss. I left Damascus in 2017 and haven't been back around since. Once again, so sorry for your loss
