Virginia Mae Barr Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Virginia Mae Barr, 93, of Abingdon, VA passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at her residence. She was born in Grundy, VA on July 4, 1928, a daughter of the late John and Malissa Stiltner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mathew Barr; one son, Eddie Viers; two step-sons, Johnny Barr and Bill Barr; and a great grandson, Owen Fields. She was a resident of Abingdon, VA since June 1975. Mae enjoyed gardening and was a master quilter. She also loved working in flowers, cooking, and canning. She is survived by two sons, Albert Barr and Ervin Ross (Lori) Barr; two daughters, Gayle Burke and Malissa McCroskey (Wayne); two brothers, Pleasant Abel Stiltner and Samuel Stiltner; seven step-children, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 Noon Friday, May 27, 2022 at Garrett Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 pm Friday, May 27, 2022, at the graveside at Barr Family Cemetery in Konnarock, VA, with Pastor Vann Seal officiating.
