Ruth Baumgardner Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

(Must have Broadband Connection to view Video Tribute) Ruth Baumgardner, age 87, of Alvarado, Virginia, passed away Monday, March 17, 2008 at her residence. She was a life long residence of Washington County, Virginia. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Ruby Ann Doss and Lois Baumgardner. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Baumgardner attended Greenwood Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Slemp H. Baumgardner; two daughters, Janice Jean Nunnally and her husband, Raleigh, of McKenney, Virginia and Joyce B. Sacra and her husband, Thomas, of Rapidan, Virginia; three sons, Henry S. Baumgardner, Jr. and his wife, Edith, of Bristol, Tennessee, Calvin W. Baumgardner and his wife, Darlene, of Damascus, Virginia and Bobby A. Baumgardner and his wife, Darlene, of Bristol, Tennessee; two sisters, Murriel Lawrence and her husband, Ronnie, of Mercer, Pennsylvania and Shirley Sweet and her husband, Graham, of Abingdon, Virginia; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 20, 2008 in the Greenwood Baptist Church with Pastor Junior Gobble and Pastor Raleigh Nunnally officiating. The committal service and interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, Alvarado, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Kenny Baumgardner, Robert Doss, Mike Doss, Glen Baumgardner, Ralph Doss, Andrew Baumgardner and Jackie Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Baumgardner, Jerry Jones, Wayne Jones, Nathaniel Sacra, Junior Doss, and Jackie Doss. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P. M. - 8:00 P. M. Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Garrett Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Greenwood Cemetery Fund c/o Ray Smith, 26192 Denton Valley Road, Abingdon, VA 24211.
