Ruby Iola Botts

Ruby Iola Botts, 92, peacefully passed away from natural causes due to complications of a stroke on Saturday, January 23, 2021 with her daughter Carolyn by her side. Ruby was born in Johnson County, Tennessee on May 3, 1928. She loved music, played the guitar and the piano. She enjoyed attending Sutherland Community Church which she had attended since she was a child. Ruby was the first person to play piano for the church and she also served as Treasurer when she was younger. Ruby graduated from Damascus High School in 1945. She married in 1948 and was a devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother. Ruby was also an animal lover and was devoted to the care of her dog and cats. She was a friendly, outgoing person who had many friends and was very well liked. Even after moving to Maryland to live with her daughter, Carolyn, she came back to the area frequently to attend Church and see friends. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Daniel Botts and an infant son, Dannie Carl Botts. She is survived by two daughters, Mary McBride and Carolyn Popp: one granddaughter, Veronica McBride; her younger sister, Juanita Blevins; niece, Sheila Roark; nephew, Roy Blevins and their children and grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 5th, 2021 from 12:00 pm -1:00 pm and Memorial Service beginning at l:00 pm with Pastor Anthony Milhorne officiating. The viewing and service will be in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home in Damascus, VA. Following the service Ruby will be buried next to her Husband at Knollkreg Memorial Park, Abingdon, VA.
