Robert R. M. Osborne

January 11, 1915 - December 18, 2005

Robert Millard "R.M." Osborne, age 90, of Damascus, Virginia, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2005 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Virginia. He was a native of Ashe County, North Carolina, and had lived in Washington County, Virginia, most of his life. He was the son of the late Bruce and Myrtle Thomas. He enjoyed coon hunting and hunting for ginseng. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Grace Trivett Osborne; three children, Peggy L. Osborne, Ronnie W. Osborne, Sr., and Danny E. Osborne, Sr.; three grandchildren, Danny Seymore, Scott Osborne, and Danny Osborne, Jr.; two sisters, Lydia Sexton and Jewell Snyder; and one brother, Charles Thomas. He is survived by two daughters, Claudine Owen and her husband, Henry, of Alton, Virginia, and Kay Seymore and her husband, Vernie, of Abingdon, Virginia; one son, Bob G. Osborne, of Damascus, Virginia; a daughter-in-law, Judy Osborne, of Abingdon, Virginia; one sister, Elizabeth Scott, of Danville, Virginia; one brother, Robert W. Osborne, of Goldsboro, North Carolina; three special friends, Joe Bert Rhea, Tommy Sweet, and Kelly Weaver; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at the graveside at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, Virginia, with Rev. Jim Beasley officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Damascus Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 458, Damascus, VA 24236. Honorary pallbearers will be David Osborne, Michael Osborne, R.W. Osborne, Michael Seymore, Connie Sue Everhart, Robin Osborne, Ronda Phillips, Gale Moore, and Melissa Akers. The family will receive friends at anytime at the residence of Robin Osborne, 21124 Diamond Drive (in the Green Acres Subdivision), Damascus, Virginia.
