Robert M. Forrester

Robert M. Forrester, 90, of Damascus, VA passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at his residence. He was born in Taylor Valley, VA on October 1, 1931, a son of the late Danny and Virgie Forrester. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Dorothy Jean Fine Forrester; one brother, Erphil Forrester; and one sister, Gladys Waters. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion. He had lived in Arlington, VA for several years and retired as a Depot Clerk from Metro Transit System in Washington, D.C. He moved back to Damascus, VA in September 1997. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Washington County Bass Club. He was a member of Taylor Valley Christian Church. Robert is survived by his daughter, Sandra L. Forrester of Cullman, AL; one brother, Jim Forrester and his wife, Helen, of Damascus, VA; a niece, Gail Ryan; three nephews, Kevin Forrester, Danny Waters, and Wesley Waters; and several other great nieces and great nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, November 22, 2021 at Garrett Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM Monday in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home with Mr. Maurice Widener, minister, and Pastor Brian Waters officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his wife at Mount Grove Church Cemetery in Hanceville, AL.
