(Must have Broadband Connection to view Video Tribute) Pauline Swift Trent, age 86, of Damascus, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, in Abingdon, Virginia. She was a lifelong resident of Damascus, Virginia and was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer L. Trent. Mrs. Trent was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by one son, Michael L. Trent and his wife, Rita, of Damascus, Virginia; one granddaughter, Wendy Garrison and her husband, Steve: one grandson, Matt Trent and his wife, Connie; two step-grandchildren, Bucky Slagle and his wife, Amiee and Donnie Slagle; one great granddaughter, Kristen Clark; three step-great-grandchildren, Chad, Haley and Taylor; one great- great grandson, Cameron Clark; two step-great-great grandchildren, Abby and Luke; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at the graveside in Sunset Memorial Park with her granddaughter, Wendy Garrison officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 P. M. Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Garrett Funeral Home. Polly was a fine person. I can still hear her saying, "not taking any pills and haven't seen a doctor in years."
Thank God, she was able to live at home and still driving right up until her last week here on earth.

I don't know whether you will remember me or not. I lived across the street from the Browns. I can remember even now what a beautiful person your Mom was. So sorry to hear of her passing. It is very sad to loose a parent. I think of my Mom and Dad nearly everyday and it is always such a comfort. I remember your Grandma Swift and spending a lot of time playing with you and Edwin Brown. A good childhood living in Damascus. Again, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mom.

Just want to say how sorry I am at the death of Pauline. I rem. her and Elmer through my parents, Elmer and Bessie Neely. They were good friends when I was a child. I always thought Pauline was such a sweet lady, and loved her and Elmer both. Again I am so sorry for your loss.

I certainly hope you receive this message of sympathy. Your Mother was wonderful and thought you were equally wonderful. You were always good neighbors, and my own Mom was especially fond of your Mom. Trust me, recalling all of the fond memories will help to ease the pain.

Pauline was a sweet and kind little lady. My memories of her growing up are all very good. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. It is difficult to lose a mother.
