View this Videotribute Mildred Ashley Parker, age 89, of Glade Spring, Virginia died Sunday, January 23, 2005 at Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, Virginia She had lived in Washington County, Virginia all of her life and was the last surviving member of the family of the late James Wiley Ashley and Minerva Blevins Ashley of Green Cove, Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Morgan Parker. Mrs. Parker was a member of the Glade Spring Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Eleanor P. Cullop and her husband, Harold, of Dublin, Virginia; one son, Sidney Hal Parker and his wife, Patsy, of Glade Spring, Virginia; five grandchildren, Susan Caldwell, James Cullop, Kay Cullop, Donna Addington, and Angela Sells; six great grandchildren, Ben Cullop, Daniel Cullop, Seth Cullop, Jenna Cullop, Shelly Caldwell and Ian Addington; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Monday, January 24, 2005 in the Garrett Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stephen Turner and Rev. Fred Parker officiating. The committal service and interment will be held 11:00 A. M. Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Green Cove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, %Don Hash, P. O. Box 792, Damascus, Virginia 24236 or to the Glade Spring Baptist Church, P. O. Box 367, Glade Spring, Virginia 24340. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Valley Health Care Center for their help and care for Mildred. The family will receive friends from 6-7:45 P.M.
