Melissa Barr Peters

MELISSA “LIZ” BARR PETERS, age 39, of Damascus Virginia passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at her residence. She was a life long resident of Damascus, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Everett Barr and survived by her mother, Gay Barr Moser of Damascus, Virginia.  In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, Everett Stanley Barr; and two sisters, Becky Barr and Mary Crouse.  In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Daney Peters; three daughters, Terra Sexton of Bristol, Virginia, Alicia Sexton of Abingdon, Virginia, and Julie Boggs of Clintwood, Virginia; one son, Blake Boggs of Clintwood, Virginia; a grandson, Andrew Allen Greer; three step-children, Danielle Peters, Mitchel Peters, and Jadden Peters; three sisters, Marilyn Riffey and her husband, Allen, of Abingdon, Virginia, Sandra Barr of Abingdon, Virginia, and Patricia Barr of Glade Spring, Virginia; one brother, Terry Moser and fiance, Heather, of Chilhowie, Virginia; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Daney Peters Sr. and Joan Peters of Mountain City, Tennessee; two sisters-in-law, Heather Sue Peters and her husband, Derrick Mann of Missouri and Ginger Yvonne Peters of Mountain City, Tennessee; a brother-in-law, Bronson Miller and his wife, Erin, of Mountain City, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.  The funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Saturday, July 2, 2011 in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home with Pastor John Stapleton officiating. The committal service and interment will be at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Whitetop Baptist Church Cemetery in Whitetop, Virginia.  The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. to 7:45 P.M.
