She was a native of Washington County, Virginia and had lived in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania for thirteen years prior to moving back to Washington County, Virginia in 1969. She was a daughter of the late Luther and Hattie Testerman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill W. Cox, Sr. and a son, John R. Cox and a grandson, Bill W. Cox III. She is survived by one son, Bill W. Cox, Jr. and his wife, Charlotte, of Glade Spring, Virginia; five grandchildren, Melissa Cox, Richard Cox, Amanda Cox, Stephanie Cox, and Kaitlyn Widener; three great grandchildren, Tyler Cox, Nathan Cox, and Madison Moran; two sisters, June Goforth, of Marion, North Carolina and Elizabeth Widener, of Glade Spring, Virginia; two brothers, Gayther Testerman, of Glade Spring, Virginia and Jay Testerman, of Chilhowie, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 13, 2007, in the Garrett Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jamie Davidson officiating. The committal service and interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park, Damascus, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Randy Testerman, John Testerman, Chase Davidson, Danny Harrison, Jim Testerman, Nathan Hayes, and Marcus Martin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Damascus Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 458, Damascus, VA 24236. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 P.M. Monday, March 12, 2007, at Garrett Funeral Home Chapel in Damascus, Virginia.
