Mae "Maisie" Widener

Mae "Maisie" Widener, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, FL.Maisie was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend to many. She was an honor graduate of Liberty Hall High School in Lodi, VA. She was a U.S. Navy wife and her husband had served in several locations throughout the world. She was noted for her deep Christian faith as well as her quick wit. She was an active member of the Kernan Avenue Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL for as long as she was able to be. Her life motto was "Do what you can with what you have for as long as you can".Maisie was preceded in death by loving husband, Roger Widener; and by her dear son, Ronnie Widener. Also preceding her were her parents, Milt and Ella Mae Wright; two brothers, Howard Wright and Marvin Wright; and a sister, Ada Lillian Buchanan; and also by many other family members and friends.Surviving are her brother-in-law, Billy Widener and his wife, Melba, of Glade Spring, VA; as well as several nieces and nephews from the Damascus, VA area. The family would like to express a special thank you to friends, Fred and Jeanette Krazit, to Herb and Carla Payne, and to other friends for their loving care and attention to Maisie over the years.A funeral service will be held for Maisie at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville Beach, FL. A visitation will be from 1-2 PM prior to the service there. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, VA with The Rev. Joe Brown officiating. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45 PM on Saturday.
