Lillian L. Hayes

Lillian L. Hayes, 95, of Konnarock, VA passed away on Monday, February 25, 2019 in the Valley Health Care Center, Chilhowie, VA. She was born in Grayson County, VA on January 8, 1924, a daughter of the late McKinley and Sarah Shumate. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Steven Hayes; four sisters, Ruby Waddel, Ruth Epright, Fontella Richardson, and Emma Moffett; and one brother, J. L. Shumate. She was a life long resident of Konnarock, VA and a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church. Lillian is survived by her daughter, Lorene Ball and her husband, Douglas, of Chilhowie, VA; three grandchildren, Brian Grim, Debbie Yates, and Eric Hayes; six great grandchildren, Molly and Sadie Yates, and Grace, Vina, Chloe, and Ella Grim; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Garrett Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am Thursday in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home with Pastor John Chapman officiating.
