Lephia Hackler

Lephia Hackler, age 76, of Meadowview, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Russell County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Charlie and Mary Wampler. She had lived in Washington County, Virginia most of her life. She was a retired cafeteria worker and later custodian from the Washington County School System. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest W. Hackler; one sister, Shirley Heath; and two brothers-in-law, Paul Ferrell and Claude Roberts. She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Walton and her husband, Sonny, of Chilhowie, Virginia; two grandsons, Wesley Walton and Cliff Walton; a special companion, Paul Blevins of Meadowview, Virginia; two sisters, Ann Ferrell of Meadowview, Virginia, and Margaret Blackburn and her husband, Paul, of Damascus, Virginia; one brother, Alfred Wampler and his wife, Dorothy, of Abingdon, Virginia; a sister-in-law, Katharine Roberts of Meadowview, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Friday, July 16, 2010 in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Rines officiating. The committal service and interment will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Zion Cemetery in Damascus, Virginia. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to the Damascus Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 458, Damascus, VA 24236. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:45 P.M.
