(To view Video Tribute you need a Broadband - DSL or Cable - connection) Kenneth "Moonpie" Hand, age 63, of Damascus, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, Tennessee. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Virginia, and was the son of the late Clarence and Lula Hand. He loved gospel music and enjoyed playing the banjo and guitar. Mr. Hand was a member of the Glade Spring Life Saving Crew and was of the Baptist faith. His grandchildren were the joy of his life and he loved them dearly. He is survived by one son, Michael Hand and his wife, Kelly, of Bristol, Virginia; four brothers, Edward Hand, of Damascus, Virginia, Chester Hand, of Bristol, Virginia, Cliff Hand and his wife, Tina, of Damascus, Virginia and Billy Hand and his wife, Charlene, of Damascus, Virginia; two sisters, Peggy Cox, of Bristol, Virginia and Sally Lane and her husband, Frank, of Damascus, Virginia; a special cousin, Leona Stanley, of Glade Spring, Virginia; two grandchildren, Callie Cunningham and Tyler Cunningham; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12:30 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Garrett Funeral Home. Following the visitation, everyone will go in procession to Montgomery Cemetery in Alvarado where a graveside service will be conducted with Pastor Robert Griffin, Jr. officiating. Pallbearers will be Brian Morris, Christopher Reynolds, Charlie Hand, Jarred Stanley, Ray Lane, and Allen Stanley. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Glade Spring Life Saving Crew.
