James Widener Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

James Martin Widener, age 69, of Glade Spring, Virginia departed this earth on Monday, March 1, 2010 suddenly at his residence. He was born October 28, 1940 to the late Martin and Carrie Widener. He was a farmer and of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Sally Mae Widener. He is survived by twos sons, Robert Widener and his wife, Pam, of Glade Spring, Virginia, and Jerry Lee Widener of High Point, North Carolina; one grandson, Storm Widener of Adelaide, Australia; two brothers, Cecil Widener and his wife, Libby, of Meadowview, Virginia, and Marvin Widener and his wife, Lee, of High Point, North Carolina; two sisters, Margie Stanley and her husband, Carl, of Damascus, Virginia, and Maggie Thomas of Glade Spring, Virginia; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Widener, Mary Widener, and Minnie Faye Widener; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P. M. Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the graveside at Rush Creek Cemetery with Rev. Paul T. Griffith officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from his nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 P. M. Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Garrett Funeral Home or at any other time at the residence of Maggie Thomas.
