View this Videotribute James P. "Jim" Anderson, age 69, of Glade Spring, Virginia passed away Thursday, February 23, 2006 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was a native of McDowell County, West Virginia and had lived in Washington County, Virginia since 1999. He was a son of the late Frank and Gussie Anderson and was also preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. Mr. Anderson was retired from the State of West Virginia and was a past member of the Gideon's in Welch, West Virginia. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Damascus, Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Maxine DeBusk Anderson; two daughters, Sheila Anderson Lewis, of Rocky Point, North Carolina and Janet Compton, of Ft. Myers, Florida; a twin sister, Jean Carrico, of Princeton, West Virginia; three brothers, Johnny Lee Anderson, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Robert Anderson, of Ceredo, West Virginia and William Anderson, of Roanoke, Virginia; three grandchildren, Jonathan Woody, Mari Evans, and Jason Marshall; one great grandson, Jacob Woody; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, February 26, 2006, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Alan McCullough officiating. The committal service and interment will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery, in the Wideners Valley Community. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Woody, Danny Thomas, Tracy Moretz, Randy Moretz, Craig DeBusk, and Brian Kirkpatrick. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Dane Lee, Nick Sturgill, Clarence DeBusk, Jack DeBusk, P. G. Widener, and Boyd Greer. The family requests memorial contributions may be sent to the Damascus Volunteer Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 458, Damascus, Virginia 24236 or the Glade Spring Volunteer Life Saving Crew, P. O. Box 59, Glade Spring, Virginia 24340. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:45 P.M. Sunday prior to the funeral service at First Baptist Church.
