Im so very sorry for yalls loss. I have lots of fond memories of Jack growing up.
My daddy- always there for anyone who needed him - ALWAYS! I remember the last days we spent together at the Manor and the big grin on his face after I gave him a sip of Dr Pepper. His nurse said I could get up there in the bed with him and for the first time in a very long time I fell asleep with my daddy's arm around me like I was still his little girl. I can still feel the comfort peace and safety with my daddy there beside me. While I was there the hospice nurse received approval for him to eat anything he wanted. I am so blessed that I got to be the one to bring him his favorite dish : beans and cornbread! We were able to have that first meal together with an ice cold coke! We watched videos and sang songs from the days of riding in daddy's old red pick-up with an 8 track tape player: Harper Valley PTA and counting flowers on the wall and some Dolly Parton as well! Remembering funny stories from the past like putting those beans in the wringer washer in hopes of shelling them quicker LOL LOL no one knew all the beans would fall out the bottom of the washer all over every place!! I believe my sister Tammy and I found beans every time we swept that kitchen for about a year hahahaha! So many other memories of my daddy and my childhood memories that surrounded him. I still can't quite grasp that he is gone. I wonder if I ever will. I didn't get to see him a whole lot but I always knew he was there..... This is hard... This is really hard. I'm happy for him though - no more back breaking work at the factory- no more back breaking work cutting wood to keep us all warm in the wintertime- no more back breaking work growing a garden to feed all 7 of us through the summer and winter months. Finally he can rest peacefully. I miss you daddy and always will.
Miss you Daddy!
Have often wanted to make contact with Cousin Jack just to re-establish some childhood memories, but was never able to do so. Our last contact was probably around 1950. Will miss him even though it has been so long ago.
