They will soar on wings like eagles; They will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-13 Hubert D. Royal, age 75, of Kingsport, TN passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017 in the Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN. He was born in Whitetop, VA on January 20, 1941, a son of the late Eugene and Lura Royal. He had lived in Florida for thirty years prior to moving to Kingsport, TN in 1999. Hubert was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He loved to hunt and fish. Hubert is survived by five children, Penny and Tina Royal and their mother, Karen Pippins, and Michael Barker, Christina Cookman, and David Hamilton and their mother, Linda Royal; one sister, Carolyn Russell and her husband, Virgil; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Garrett Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM Thursday in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home with Rev. Leonard Tenney officiating. The committal service and interment will follow at Whitetop Gap Cemetery, Whitetop, VA with military graveside rites conducted by the VA National Guard Honor Guard and the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard.
