Herman Lincoln Hoosier

May 24, 1935 - February 26, 2017

Herman Hoosier, 81, of Troutdale, Virginia passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at his residence. He was born on May 24, 1935 in Smyth County, Virginia, a son of the late Ross and Edna Hoosier. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Hoosier. He was a native of Konnarock, Virginia and had lived in Pennsylvania and Delaware for several years before moving back to Konnarock in 1989 after his retirement from General Motors after 31 years of service. Herman was a member of Konnarock Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Audrey "Honey" Hoosier; one son, Joe Hoosier and his wife, Lori, of Cochranville, PA; one daughter, Kelly Ruger and her husband, Michael, of Bristol, TN; four grandchildren, Keith Ruger, Brian Ruger, Brittany Hoosier, and Brandyn Hoosier; three brothers, Arley Hoosier and his wife, Alice, and Jimmy Hoosier and his wife, Charlotte, all of Konnarock, VA and Jerry Hoosier of Abingodn, VA; one sister, Marcell Keiter and her husband, Alvin, of West Grove, PA; a sister-in-law, Jewel Hoosier of Poplar, NC; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Friday, March 3, 2017 at Konnarock Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Konnarock, VA. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM Friday at the church with Pastor Don Elswick and Elder Dan Huffman officiating. The committal service and interment will follow the funeral service at Laurel Cemetery in Konnarock, VA. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Dale Blevins will serve as an Honorary Pallbearer. Condolences for the family may be sent and viewed by visiting www.garrettfuneralhome.com.
