Hazel Sayre Tolliver

(To view Video Tribute you need a Broadband - DSL or Cable - connection) Hazel V. Sayre Tolliver, age 91, of Damascus, Virginia, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2007 in Damascus, Virginia. She was born March 4, 1916 in McDowell County, West Virginia. She had lived in Duo, West Virginia from 1948 until 1979, she moved to Washington County, Virginia during the year of 1979. She was a daughter of the late Daniel and Lula Green and was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles James Sayre who passed away May 28, 1968 and her second husband, Blaine Tolliver who passed away February 9, 1999. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lula Mae Sayre and a son, Charles L. Sayre, five brothers and one sister. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Damascus, Virginia. She is survived by two daughters, Carol Sue Vass, and her husband, Benjamin, of Piedmont, South Carolina and Ruth D. Franco, and her husband, Paul, of Salem, Virginia; three sons, James K. Sayre, of Salem, Virginia, Gary H. Sayre, and his wife, Caroline of Pauline, South Carolina and John H. Sayre, and his wife, Janice of Kernersville, North Carolina; one step-son, Arlee Tolliver, of Abingdon, Virginia; two step-daughters, Stella Dalton, of McRoss, West Virginia and Evelyn Richardson, of Taylors Valley, Virginia; three brothers, Charles Green, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, Freeman Green, of Calhoun, Georgia and Jay Green, of Monroe, North Carolina; one sister, Juanita Harris Rogowski, of Baltimore, Maryland; twenty-five grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 6:00 P.M. Thursday, March 8, 2007 in the First Baptist Church in Damascus, Virginia with Rev. Wayne Guynn officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday following the funeral service at the church until 9:00 P. M. The committal service and interment will be at 1:00 P. M. Friday, March 9, 2007 at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, in Clintonville, West Virginia with Rev. Youel Altizer officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 993, Damascus, Virginia 24236.
