Hazel T. Cornett, age 87, of Damascus, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tennessee. She was a native of Washington County, Virginia and was a daughter of the late Hill and Cora Trivett, otherwise known to many as Pop and Mom Trivett. She attended Laurel Community Church in Damascus, Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Cornett; as well as her four sisters and two brothers. She is survived by one son, Charles “Randy” Cornett and his wife, Judy, of Damascus, Virginia; two grandchildren, Dr. Charles “Chuck” Cornett and his wife, Cathy, of Platteville, Wisconsin, and Beth Clark and her husband, Chris, of Roanoke, Virginia; three great grandchildren, Cora, Roy, and Ellen Cornett; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 1, 2012 in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Rines officiating. The committal service and interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Scott Widener, Bill Thomas, Larry Brown, Ronnie Cullop, Terry Reid, Bob Cornett, and Steve Cornett. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Osborne, Eugene Neely, Lonnie Lewis, Jim Lewis, Ed Lane, Jerry Cornett, Bill Neely, and Vernie Seymore. The family will receive friends from 12:30 P.M. to 1:45 P.M.
