Harry Eddy, age 74, of Damascus, Virginia, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2004 at his residence. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Virginia, and was the son of the late John and Mary Conley Eddy. Harry worked for Burlington Industries for twenty-five years until it closed and he went to work for the Virginia Department of Rehabilitation and was a courier for Purolator Courier Corporation. He later become the owner and operator of the Town and Country Hardware with his wife, Betty in Damascus and in his later years worked as a courier for the Damascus Bank and catered for In The Country in Damascus. Harry was a member of the Damascus United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Daniel Eddy, John Eddy, and Millard Eddy; one sister, Mildred Eddy Counts; two brothers-in-law, Bufford Stafford and Leslie Counts. He is survived by his wife, Betty French Eddy; three daughters, Judy Eddy Price and her husband, Phillip, of Damascus, Virginia, Susan Eddy and her companion, Ruth Dubin, of Gainesville, Georgia, and Jennifer Eddy Blevins and her husband, James, of Damascus, Virginia; one sister, Sue Eddy Stafford, of Roanoke, Virginia; five grandchildren, Gabe Price, Christopher Price, Ethan Price, Abby Blevins, and Ally Blevins; eight sisters-in-law, Gail French Combs, Deb French, Betty French, Darlene French, Anita French, Cecil Eddy, Gwendolyn Eddy, and Joyce Eddy; six brothers-in-law, Kenneth French, Clifford French, Marshall French, Dennis French, Terry French, and Jimmy Combs; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, October 23, 2004 at Damascus United Methodist Church with the Reverend Ms. Jane Ayers and Mr. Paul Lethcoe officiating. The committal service and burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus. Pallbearers will be Tom Eddy, Brandon Eddy, Patrick French, Mike French, Kenneth "Sonny" French, and Jay Stafford. Honorary pallbearers will be John Seymore, Paul Lethcoe, Bob Raines, James Shoun, Harold Wilcox, John Henderson Sr., Bert Snodgrass, Jerry Cornett, and Johnny Stafford. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Wellmont Hospice House, 280 Steeles Road, Bristol, Tennessee 37620. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:45 P.M. Saturday prior to the funeral service at Damascus United Methodist Church.
