View this Videotribute Harley Ray Pennington, age 67, of Troutdale, Virginia, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2005 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Virginia. He was a lifelong resident of Smyth County, Virginia, and was the son of the late Harley and Mildred Walls Pennington. He retired in 2000 from the U.S. Forestry Service after 35 years of service. Mr. Pennington was a member of the Azen Baptist Church in Konnarock, Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by an infant son, Kenneth Ray Pennington. He is survived by his wife, Betty L. Pennington; two sons, Anthony Pennington and wife, Margaret, of Marion, Virginia, and Kevin Pennington and wife, Jeanie, of Troutdale, Virginia; two daughters, Vickie Widener and husband, Gerald, of Marion, Virginia, and Teresa Parsons and husband, Ronald, of Troutdale, Virginia; one brother, Roger Pennington and wife, Katie, of Damascus, Virginia; one sister, Janet Fauber and husband, Eugene, of Spotswood, Virginia; six grandchildren, one great grandson, two step-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; a special family friend, Rev. Tim Blevins; and a pet dog, Scamper. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 9, 2005, in the Azen Baptist Church in Konnarock, Virginia, with Rev. Tim Blevins, Rev. Jimmy Lundy, Jr., and Rev. Jerry Fritz officiating. The committal service and interment will follow at Azen Cemetery. Members of the U.S. Forestry Service will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. Flowers will be accepted or in lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Cancer Outreach Foundation, 206 Abingdon Place, Abingdon, VA 24211. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Azen Baptist Church.
