George Hall

View this Videotribute George Leonard Hall, age 91, of Abingdon, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Virginia. He was a native of New York and lived in northern Virginia for over forty years, before moving to Abingdon, Virginia in 1999. He was a son of the late Charles and Alice Weaver Hall. Mr. Hall was a veteran of the U. S. Navy with twenty-one years of service, having served during World War II. He was retired from the Federal Aviation Administration in Washington D. C. after fifteen years of service. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He is survived by one daughter, Suann Canter and her husband, Ronnie, of Abingdon, Virginia; one granddaughter, Laurie Canter Kuhn and her husband, Paul, of Seattle, Washington; two nephews, Richard Gloss, of Dunkirk, New York, and Roger Gloss, of Sheridan, New York. The funeral service will be conducted 8:00 P. M. Friday, December 9, 2005 at the Garrett Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jane Ayers officiating. The committal service and interment will be 2:00 P. M. Wednesday, March 15, 2006 in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Washington County Habitat for Humanity, 300 Greensprings Road, Abingdon, Virginia 24210. The family will receive friends from 6-7:45 P. M. prior to the funeral service at Garrett Funeral Home.
