In loving memory of momma and mammie. Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies…. Proverbs 31:10-31 Elizabeth E. Widener, age 82, of 33183 Crofton Lane, Glade Spring, Virginia, went to be with the Lord, her loving husband, and her precious sons while surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 4, 2011 at her residence. She was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Virginia and was a daughter of the late Luther and Hattie Testerman. She was a good Godly mother and grandmother and was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, J. Herman Widener in 2006; two sons, James Ernest Widener in 1962 and Dennis Earl Widener in 2010; a son-in-law, Louis Trinkle in 1993; and five sisters and five brothers. She is survived by seven daughters, Nancy Trinkle of Bristol, Virginia, Rita Sturgill and her husband, Bob, of Bristol, Virginia, Judy Ratcliff and her husband, Joe, of Chilhowie, Virginia, Pat Bobo and her husband, Steve, of Meadowview, Virginia, Connie Widener of Glade Spring, Virginia, Brenda Jessee and her husband, Tim, of Meadowview, Virginia, and Joyce Tester and her husband, Marty, of Glade Spring, Virginia; three sons, Leo Widener and his wife, Ann, of Glade Spring, Virginia, Gene Widener and his wife, Sandy, of Damascus, Virginia, and Steve Widener of Glade Spring, Virginia; a special daughter-in-law, Lavone Widener of Damascus, Virginia; one sister, June Goforth and her husband, Linton, of Marion, North Carolina; one brother, Gayther Testerman and his wife, Karen, of Glade Spring, Virginia; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, one great great grandson, several nieces and nephews, and many special friends. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 6, 2011 in the Pleasant View Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Tester and Pastor Van Seal officiating. The committal service and interment will follow in the Widener Valley Community Cemetery with James Woodward officiating. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers and her granddaughters will serve as flower attendants. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of CCU at Johnston Memorial Hospital and Naomi Barrett and Hospice of Southwest Virginia for all their special care given to Mrs. Widener during her time of illness. Mrs. Widener’s body will be taken back to her residence to lie in state where the family will receive friends at anytime after 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 5, 2011.
