Eileen Buchanan Mock

Eileen Buchanan Mock, age 93, of Abingdon, Virginia passed away peacefully Monday, February 16, 2015, at Abingdon Health and Rehab Center in Abingdon, Virginia. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Glade Spring, Virginia. The congregation there was very special to her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Mock; one son, Wayne B. Mock; two sisters, Lucille McCall and Vivian McCall; and her parents, Grover C. Buchanan and Alberta Widener Buchanan. She is survived by a daughter, Linda Snodgrass and her husband, Henry, of Abingdon, Virginia; a grandson, Nathan Snodgrass and his wife, Sara, and great granddaughter, Ada Rose Snodgrass of Raleigh, North Carolina; a granddaughter, Sara Eckhardt and her husband, Michael, of Louisville, Kentucky; two sisters-in-law, Katherine Mock and Vivian Mock; many very special nieces and nephews, who visited and kept her up to date with their families, also survive her. She was blessed with many great neighbors while living on McGee Lane. Among those are Ted and Liz Lester, Joe and Joy McConnell, who for many years brought her mail and newspaper in and often helped her make breakfast. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. Friday, February 20, 2015 in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home with Pastor Jeannie Denton officiating. The committal service and interment will follow at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 P.M. to 2:15 P.M. Friday prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Tom McCall, Steve McCall, Jim McCall, Bert Snodgrass, Henry Snodgrass, and Nathan Snodgrass. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.
