Dorothy Blevins Lewis

Dorothy Allen Blevins Lewis peacefully passed to heaven on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at her home with her family by her side. Mrs. Lewis was born to Jacob Alfred and Gladys Wilson Blevins on December 16, 1928 in Glade Spring, Virginia. She married William Preston Lewis on May 24, 1950, and resided in Taylors Valley, Virginia for the remainder of her life. There were four loving daughters born to Allen and Bill: Patricia Elaine (Ed) Anderson, Susan Marisa (Fred) Herndon, Cynthia Dawn (Matt) Davidson, and Julia Beth (Mark) Richardson; they were blessed with six grandchildren, Lori and Will Anderson, Erin Herndon, Emily and Matthew Davidson, and Briana Richardson. Allen is also survived by four loving sisters, Margaret Francisco, Nancy Brown, Jackie Hartselle, and Betty Lou Fontana; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one infant sister, Virginia Blevins, and two brothers, James Green Blevins and Phillip Wilson Blevins. Mrs. Lewis served in many capacities over the years, and she was a faithful member of the Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren.  The funeral service for Mrs. Lewis will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 19, 2011 in the Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren in Taylors Valley, Virginia with Pastor Pete Roudebush officiating. The committal service and interment will follow at Jackson-Lewis Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:45 P.M.
