David Hand

David F. Hand, age 66, of Damascus, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, Virginia. He was a life long resident of Washington County, Virginia, and was a son of the late John and Maude Poe Hand. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Damascus. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Jeanette Williams. He is survived by one son, David W. Hand, of Abingdon, Virginia; one daughter, Rebecca Hand, of Ft. Myers, Florida; one step-daughter, Julie Clark and her husband, W.J., of Atkins, Virginia; two sisters, Rachel Baughman, of Damascus, Virginia, and Sarah Watson, of Knoxville, Tennessee; one brother, Wells Hand, of Falls Church, Virginia; three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P. M. Thursday, January 5, 2006 in the Garrett Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alan McCullough officiating. A private burial will follow in Wrights Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Damascus Volunteer Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 458, Damascus, VA 24236.
