Clara Rose McCall

August 2, 1944 - February 8, 2022

Clara Rose McCall, 77, of Meadowview, VA died Tuesday, February 8, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Virginia McConnell. Rose is survived by her husband of 58 years, Thomas H. “Tom” McCall; son, Keith McCall (Tammy Austin) and daughter Lisa McCall Topshee (Ron) of Emory, VA. She is also survived by grandchildren, Mary Virginia Plemmons (Chris), Blake McConnell Sholes (fiancé, Katie Huxtable), Hunter Thomas McCall (Katie) and Dave Topshee (Ashley); great-grandchildren, Charlotte Rose and Carson Gregory Plemmons and Rowan Phillip McCall; three siblings also mourn her loss, Joe McConnell (Joy) and Mark McConnell (Connie) of Meadowview, VA and Carrie Beth McConnell of Troutville, VA; brothers-in-law, David McCall (Patty), Sam McCall, Bill McCall, Steve McCall (Betty Gayle) and sisters-in-law Brenda McCall and Carolyn McCall all of Meadowview, VA. Rose is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Rose was born in the Green Springs community, however, she spent most of her life from age 5 as a member of the Lodi community. She was a lifetime member of Rock Spring Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school for many years, Sunday school treasurer, participated in the Women of the Church group, and served in a variety of roles, most recently providing hot chocolate and cookies for Christmas carolers. Rose was proud of her 15 years of volunteer work at Johnston Memorial Hospital where she, among other duties, worked the information desk and delivered magazines and other comfort items to patients. She volunteered for many years as a poll worker for the Rhea Valley voting precinct. She was a talented craftswoman creating hundreds of beautiful woven baskets and other projects throughout the years. Her talent also served her as she worked as a florist at Sam’s Flowers in Damascus, VA creating beautiful flower arrangements for events and people throughout the region before her retirement. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Garrett Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM Thursday in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home with Pastor Susanne Martin officiating. The committal service and interment will be at 2:00 PM Friday, February 11, 2022 at Rock Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Blake Sholes, Hunter McCall, Chad Thomas, Jason Thomas, Jason McCall, Robert Leonard, Jimmy Cato, and Mark Richardson. Honorary Pallbearers are David Cline and Sam McCall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rock Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, ℅ Sam Ryburn, 15116 Enterprise Road, Abingdon VA, 24211.
