Christopher "Chris" Aaron Johnson, age 41, died on March 31, 2017 at his home in Decatur, Tennessee. He was born in Washington County, Virginia to Mike and Neva Johnson on May 17, 1975 and followed in his father's footsteps with a love for farming. As a youth, he was active in the 4-H Club and the Livestock Club. He was a graduate of Holston High School and attended Northeast Oklahoma A&M College. As an adult, he traveled the country prepping animals for shows and sales. He held full-time positions at Express Ranches in Oklahoma, Davis on the Highlands in Kentucky, and Gamble Angus in Clinton, Tennessee and was presently herd manager for Miller Family Farms in Decatur, Tennessee. Fellow Angus breeders named Chris the 2011 Herdsman of the Year during the National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colorado. Chris also enjoyed helping youth compete in national cattle competitions and served as the Tennessee Junior Angus Association Advisor. Chris was preceded in death by his father, Mike Johnson; his grandfather, Bob G. Johnson; and grandparents, Glenn and Pauline Forrester. Chris is survived by his wife, Jessica Harris Johnson; his mother, Neva Johnson; his sisters, Jennifer Johnson and Amy Johnson; his grandmother, Bettie M. Johnson; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and very special four-legged companions, Lanny and Jack. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in the Riverview Chapel of Garrett Funeral Home, Damascus, Virginia. Friends may also call at the residence of Bettie M. Johnson, Abingdon, Virginia, anytime. The Celebration of Life will be conducted at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2017, in the Riverview Chapel of Garrett Funeral Home.
