Retired Army Chief Warrant Officer II, Charles Rolen Ratcliff, age 77, of Poulsbo, Washington, formerly of Damascus, Virginia, entered into God’s Kingdom with his loving family by his side on Monday, June 20, 2011 at Kitsap Hospice Center in Bremerton, Washington. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Hazel Ratcliff of Damascus, Virginia and one brother, George Ratcliff of Orlando, Florida. He is survived by the love of his life, Dawn Ratcliff; one son, Robert Ratcliff and his wife, Maria, of Poulsbo, Washington; one daughter, Hazel Sims of Chester, England; one brother, Curtis Ratcliff of Twin Bridges, Montana; three sisters, Carolyn Ratcliff Henderson and her husband, John, of Damascus, Virginia, Emme Ratcliff Leslie of Bristol, Virginia, and Joyce Ratcliff Fowler and her husband, Gene, of Kearney, New Jersey; four grandchildren and several special nieces, nephews, and cousins. Charles served his Country with great pride and honor, he was a true American. He was a Mason and belonged to the “Central City Lodge #305 F. & A.M.” in Selma, Alabama. Charles was a member of the Redeemer United Methodist Church in Kingston, Washington, where he loved to sing solos and share his love for Christ. He and Dawn were instrumental in helping build this church. He enjoyed many hobbies: fishing, cooking, gardening, brick masonry, his grandchildren and traveling. Even though he traveled and lived in different countries, a part of him always remained in the hills of Southwest, Virginia. A military service will be held on Friday, July 8, 2011 at Mount Tahoma Veterans Cemetery in Tacoma, Washington. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Redeemer United Methodist Church in Kingston, Washington. Online condolences may be sent to the family and viewed by visiting www.garrettfuneralhome.com. Obituary information courtesy of Garrett Funeral Home, 203 N.
