Charles F. "Frank" Phillips, Sr.

Charles F. "Frank" Phillips, Sr., 73, of Damascus, Virginia went to be with his Lord on Thursday, May 2, 2019 surrounded by his family at his home in Damascus, Virginia following an extended illness. He was born in Washington County, Virginia on October 9, 1945, a son of the late James Walter Phillips, Sr. and Helen Louise Heath Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Graham; and two brothers, Billy W. Phillips and Pete Phillips.Frank had lived in Pennsylvania for many years until he retired and moved back to Virginia in 1971. He then went to work as a welder with Bristol Metals for several years until his retirement again in 2013. He was an active member of Beulah Baptist Church.Frank is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Hazel Virginia Rhudy Phillips, one son, Charles F. "Frankie" Phillips, Jr. and wife, Amy of Blountville, TN; one brother, James Walter Phillips, Jr. and wife, Lillian of Bluff City, TN; two sisters, Sally Elizabeth Rhudy of Damascus, VA and Helen Mary Holden and husband, Bill of Elizabethton, TN; two grandchildren, Katlin Phillips and Casey Brooke Eaton and husband, David; two great-granddaughters, Raelynn Stiltner and Guinevere Eaton; one great-grandson, Finnian Eaton; and several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Beulah Baptist Church, 19126 Monroe Road, Meadowview, VA 24361. The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Beulah Baptist Church, with Pastor Dwayne Dillard officiating. The committal service and interment will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Sunset Memorial Park, Damascus, VA. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:45 p.m., Sunday.
