Rev. N. L. “Pete” Roudebush, age 73, of Taylor Valley, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, Tennessee. He was currently the pastor of Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren in Taylors Valley, Virginia. He was born in Harrison, Ohio on June 19, 1941, he graduated from Dixon High School at Eaton, Ohio. He attended Sinclair Community College with an Engineering degree where he worked for Parker Hannifin in Eaton and Brookville, Ohio. He was called into the ministry where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Trinity Bible College and Seminary and a Master of Divinity, Doctorate of Ministry and Doctorate of Theology from Andersonville Bible Seminary. In 2000 he was called to pastor Trinity Church of the Brethren in Blountville, Tennessee and served as Southeastern District Church of the Brethren Co-District Executive along with his wife for ten years. He wrote a book Small Church Great Potential and a devotional book. He was a part of the Gideon International Ministry and Emmaus Walks. He was preceded in death by his parents, F.E. and Flora Roudebush. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Martha June Roudebush; one son, Daryl Roudebush and his wife, Jackie, of Alexandria, Ohio; one daughter, Carol Morris and her husband, Chris, of Orland Park, Illinois; one brother, Don Roudebush and his wife, Charlotte, of Vero Beach, Florida; seven grandchildren, Kelly Sciortino and her husband, Steve, Ashley Morris, Steven Morris, Jack Roudebush, Ellen Roudebush, Trey Roudebush, and Ben Roudebush; two great granddaughters, Malia and Alessa Sciortino; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home in Damascus, Virginia with Rev. Wallace Cole and Rev. Scott Kinnick officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:45 P.M. Wednesday prior to the funeral service at Garrett Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center in West Alexandria, Ohio with Rev. Craig Smith officiating. The committal service and interment will follow the funeral service in Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Foster, Michael Dean, Cameron Dean, Jack Roudebush, Trey Roudebush, Steve Sciortino, and Steven Morris. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Saturday prior to the funeral service at Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center.
