JOHNNY E. THOMAS, 60, of Glade Spring, Virginia passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Abingdon, Virginia on May 8, 1956, son of the late Vinton Elwood Thomas. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Kenny Thomas.Johnny was a certified welder and worked for many years at Bristol Compressors. He enjoyed gardening and his flowers.Johnny is survived by his mother, Maggie Widener Thomas of Glade Spring, Virginia; fiance', Elizabeth Paige Lane of Glade Spring, Virginia; two sons, Jonathan Michael Thomas and wife, Tracy of Glade Spring, Virginia and Joshua Adam Thomas and wife, Brooke of Orange Park, Florida; one grandson, Hunter Thomas; one sister, Shirley Thomas of Glade Spring, Virginia; one brother, Billy Thomas of Glade Spring, Virginia; Jonathan's mother, Wanda Greer of Konnarock, Virginia; Joshua's mother, Sheila Thomas of Middleburg, Florida; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, June 20, 2016 at Garrett Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 pm Monday, June 20, 2016, in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Ritchie officiating. I loved the cd it was Beautiful and filled with so much love in every picture. Just like I remeber I wish I could have been there with each of you my deepest sympathy goes out to during this time. Johnny its hard to believe you have been gone a year already, you left a huge hole in alot of hearts. Im so thankful for the many years you was in my sister Elizabeth Paige Lanes life! I remeber growing up down the road from the Thomas family. Johnny and His family adopted me as their own. Maggy always loved me like a daughter and I remeber Johnny driving by every afternoon in that gold transam heading off to work at Bristol compressors . Always blowing the horn and waving as he drove by. He was soft spoken and always kind to me and my family. RIP my dear friend until we meet again. I loved you then know and always.
