Gay Sexton Ramsey, age 86, of Damascus, VA passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at her residence. She was a life long resident of Washington County, VA and was a daughter of the late Clint and Stella Sexton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Ramsey; and a brother, Carl Sexton. She was a retired nurses aid from the former Highlands Nursing Home in Abingdon, VA. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. and a member of Cedar Bluff United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and reading. She is survived by her daughter, Janie Adkins and her husband, Henry, of Damascus, VA; a grandson, Chris Taylor and his wife, Lora, of Damascus, VA; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Garrett Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 15, 2017, in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home with Pastor James Walls officiating. The committal service and interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Damascus, VA. Pallbearers will be Jerry Henson, Joe Thomas, Vaynard Harrison, Henry Adkins, Johnny Sexton, and Bobby Sexton. The family would like to extend a special thanks for Nicki, Diane, and Vicky of Mountain States Hospice and her other caregivers, Sandra and Heather. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Cedar Bluff United Methodist Church, 22245 Alex Road, Damascus, VA 24236 or the Margaret B.
