Elsie Mae Deel Trivett, age 79, of Damascus, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Virginia. She was born in Yukon, West Virginia, had lived in Dickenson County, Virginia during her childhood and had lived in Damascus, Virginia most all of her life. She was the daughter of the late S.M. and Ida Deel. She was of the Baptist Faith. Elsie loved going out dancing and listening to music and spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Richardson and Edith Owens, and two brothers, Sydney Deel and Cecil Deel. She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Sexton Clark and her husband, Michael, of Bristol, Tennessee and Jeannie Trivett Patrick and her husband, Jeff, of Damascus, Virginia; two sons, Bo Raines and Kerry Raines both of Damascus, Virginia; seven grandchildren, DeeDra Branson, Doug Sexton Jr., Brittany Bresette, Natasha Rouse, Shane Raines, Shannon Raines, and Presley Patrick; two sisters, Ann Murray of Abingdon, Virginia and Eula Sluder of Shady Valley, Tennessee; four brothers, Ronald Deel of Destin, Florida, Robert Deel of New Holland, Pennsylvania, Ray Deel of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and Kelly Deel of Damascus, Virginia; nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Betty Warden, Nell Rosenbaum Boyd, Wanda Doss, and Wilma Doss. The family will have a gathering of friends to honor and celebrate the life of Elsie Deel Trivett on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Garrett Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to the Penny F. Garrett Sarcoma Foundation, 29394 Zion Church Road, Damascus, VA 24236. Elsie was one of the sweetest and loving person I have had the honor of knowing. We will miss her so much. I am sending prayers and good thoughts to all the family. She will live on through each of you. May God be with you through this time of grieving.
