Bernice Dean Blevins

Bernice Dean Blevins, 97, of Taylors Valley, VA passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Envoy at the Meadows in Goochland, VA. She was born August 25, 1920 in Taylors Valley, VA and was a daughter of the late Jerry Columbus Dean and Vera Thompson Dean. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn J. Blevins; a daughter, Merle Washington; and her brother, Wade Dean. Bernice is survived by daughter, Patsy Howard (Dave), of Fredericksburg, VA; son, Buddy Cochran (Jean) of Taylors Valley, VA; daughter, Judy Brewer (Frank) of Goochland, VA; son-in-law, Raleigh Washington of Glen Allen, VA; grandsons, Roy Wright, Kenny Wright, Mike Wright (Charlene), Keith Brewer, Jason Brewer (Lauri), and Matt Brewer (Caroline); granddaughters, Anita Sharpenstein (Tony), and Mimi Cote; great grandchildren, Michael Wright (Kaleigh), Christian Wright, Ryan Wright, Everett Brewer, Marcus Brewer, Christopher Brewer, Frankie Brewer, George Brewer, and Rebecca Cote; and great great granddaughter, Macie Ann Wright. Bernice loved her Lord, her family and her church family. She enjoyed feeding humming birds, canning, playing chicken scratch with friends and sitting on her front porch talking with friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren in Taylors Valley, VA. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM Saturday at the church with Pastor Martha Roudebush officiating. The committal service and interment will follow at Jackson-Lewis Cemetery in Taylors Valley, VA. Pallbearers will be Keith Brewer, Jason Brewer, Matt Brewer, Mike Wright, Chris Galliher, and Sam Moretz. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren, 37151 Chestnut Mountain Road, Damascus, VA 24236.
