Annie Martin Roark

Annie Martin Roark, age 97, of Damascus, VA and formerly of Nathalie, VA passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015 in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, VA. She was born in Halifax County, VA on June 15, 1917, a daughter of the late Henry Spencer Martin and Sally Susan Ambrose Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Bernard Roark; two sisters; five brothers. She was a member of the Damascus Senior Citizens and the First Baptist Church of Damascus, Virginia. She is survived by two sons, Wayne Roark (Jayn) of Hopewell, VA, and Gerald Roark (Angie) of Bristol, VA; three daughters, Linda Roark Glass (Aubrey) of Water View, VA, Anita Roark Taylor (Thomas) of Meadowview, VA, and Susan Roark Seymore (John) of Damascus, VA; one brother, Thomas Martin (Peggy) of Nathalie, VA; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the First Baptist Church, Damascus, VA. A Celebration of Life will follow the visitation at the church. In addition, a memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Republican Grove in Nathalie, VA at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 23, 2015.
